Used Chevrolet Silverado

The Silverado, which started its production in 1999, is the latest model of full-sized pickup trucks made by Chevrolet. Presently, the Silverado is the second most sold vehicle today, just trailing behind Ford’s F-Series. The Chevrolet Silverado comes in two platforms, the standard and the heavy duty platforms. Apart from these two, SUV versions were also made available. These SUV derivatives were then named Yukon, Escalade, Suburban, and Tahoe. Being a large pickup truck, the Chevrolet Silverado’s three body styles were made for it. All body styles are four-wheel drive and all of them have front-engine, rear-wheel drive layouts. The body styles include a 4-door crew cab, a 3-door extended cab, and the regular 2-door cab. In 2003, Chevrolet made Silverado a new variant and named it the Chevrolet Silverado SS. The Silverado SS is still patterned from the standard 1500 Silverado. However, changes were made in the interior and exterior of the pickup truck. The engine fitted in the Silverado SS is a 6.0 L Vortec high output V8. The maximum power recorded of this V8 engine is 345 hp, running at 5200 revolutions per minute. The torque is a whopping 4000 rpm. The used Chevrolet Silverado SS was first made with an all-wheel drive layout; however, later releases adopted the rear-wheel drive format and retained it. Z60 performance suspension was also added to the SS variant. The wheels of the Silverado SS are larger at 20 inches in diameter, and all are chromed. Later in 2006, a special edition of the Silverado SS was made and released. A heavy duty version of the Silverado was first produced and released in 2001 and was stopped in 2007. The heavy duty version, also known as the HD version, is simply a strengthened version of the standard Silverado. Three variants of the HD Silverado were produced. These are the 1500 HD, 2500 HD, and the 3500 HD. As the values suggest, the strongest is the 3500 HD, and the 1500 HD is the lightest of the HD versions. In 2007, the GMT900 Silverado HD was released. This is the current Silverado edition in production. It is made in two different transmission systems, both being 6-speed automatics. The physical dimensions of this Silverado edition varies in length but is always 80 inches wide, not including towing mirrors, and 76 inches in height. The Chevy Silverado is such a high performance vehicle that it was named Vehicle of the Year in 2007.
